New Delhi, PTI. Gold and silver prices continue to fluctuate. In the national capital, gold on Friday fell by Rs 70 to Rs 50,557 per 10 grams, from Rs 50,627 per 10 grams in the previous trading session. At the same time, silver also declined by Rs 621 to Rs 59,077 per kg from Rs 59,698 per kg in the previous trading session.

HDFC Securities Senior Analyst (Commodities) Tapan Patel said spot gold prices for 24 carat gold declined by Rs 70 in Delhi, reflecting overnight fall in COMEX gold prices. In the international market, gold was trading higher at $ 1,828 an ounce and silver was flat at $ 20.97 an ounce. Patel said spot gold prices on COMEX have gained 0.33 per cent.

Speculators reduced their positions, as gold fell by Rs 46 to Rs 50,548 per 10 grams in futures trade on Friday. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in August traded lower by Rs 46, or 0.09 per cent, at Rs 50,548 per 10 grams, with a business turnover of 12,159 lots. Analysts attributed the fall in gold prices to cutting of positions by participants. Globally, gold was trading 0.32 percent lower at $ 1,823.90 an ounce in New York.

Silver futures fall

Silver futures on Friday fell by Rs 254 to Rs 59,250 per kg. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July fell by Rs 254, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 59,250 per kg in a business turnover of 9,434 lots. Globally, silver was trading 0.76 per cent lower at USD 20.93 an ounce in New York.
